Ashley Mahood Paraiso
L.Ac, Dipl. OM, M.OM | Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine Practitioner
Ashley found acupuncture and Chinese medicine (or rather, they found her) while advocating for and working with refugees in Washington, DC. During this time, Ashley turned to yoga to help manage her stress and find her inner calm. Eventually her journey for balance and mind/body health led her to acupuncture and Chinese medicine, and she graduated from Maryland University of Integrative Health with a master’s degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs. Some highlights of her training included providing acupuncture treatments to people recovering from addiction at Penn North Recovery Center in Baltimore, Maryland, and to inmates at the Howard County Detention Center.
Ashley is dedicated to using Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine to support the unique, whole person rather than simply addressing his or her symptoms. She welcomes patients seeking support with any manner of physical, emotional, or spiritual issues. She has extensive experience and training in supporting women’s and reproductive health and also enjoys treating people with aches, pains, and injuries and emotional issues. Ashley believes that this ancient medicine is powerful in its ability to bring balance to the body so that the mind, body, and spirit may thrive.
She is licensed to practice acupuncture by the North Carolina Acupuncture Licensing Board and the Washington, DC Board of Medicine and is nationally certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She earned her undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Virginia. She had a thriving acupuncture practice in Dupont Circle in Washington, DC and recently moved to the Charlotte area in order to be closer to family.
